British Standards Codes of Practice BS5839 Part 1 (Non-Domestic Premises) and British Standards Codes of Practice BS5839 Part 6 (Domestic Premises) alongside, Approved document B and your Fire Risk Assessment, together with your Insurance Company requirements will help you choose the correct Category and Level of Protection to be installed.

As a Code of Practice British Standards takes the form of guidance and recommendations. Its recommendations are expressed in sentences in which the principal auxiliary verb is “should” In this context, recommendations should be implemented whereas guidance is optional.

Once installed, it must be maintained in full working order, be ready to use and be fit for purpose.

The Government advises that the best way of demonstrating compliance with National Fire Safety Legislation is to ensure that all Life Safety Equipment is Designed, Commissioned, Installed and Maintained in accordance with British Standards Codes of Practice. The Government also advocates and promotes the use of UKAS Third-Party Certification Services for Fire Protection products and related services. ‘UKAS Third Party Certification Schemes for fire protection products and related services are an effective means of providing the best possible assurances, offering a level of quality, reliability, and safety that non-certificated products and services may lack’.

The Portal also allows Full traceability of the Products installed by us for warranty purposes.

All documentation is held for a period of 6 years.
